William cried
for his mother
and the family he lost.
This new one wasn't good.
He wasn't happy at all.

Scully cried
for her son
and the family she lost.
This loneliness wasn't good.
She wasn't happy at all.

Mulder cried
for his partner
and the family he lost.
This hiding wasn't good.
He wasn't happy at all.

Mulder came back,
filling a gap in Scully's heart,
but still she was sad,
mourning the son
she'd given up.

Scully vowed,
with Mulder's assurance,
and they both agreed
to get their son back,
risking everything.

William cooed
in his mothers arms,
with his father behind them
weaving a bedtime story
so he'd drift to sleep.

Laying him down 
in his crib
they kissed him goodnight
and put the story on hold
saving it for next time.

The two went to sleep
together
in bed
until the next day
when they'd start all over again.
